About me

I am Autistic with ADHD who has practiced as a Visual Artist for many years, as an Art Facilitator, a former director of the CIC The Creative Butterfly Project, and as an individual in their own right.

The majority of my creative practice uses mixed media, with photography in the forefront, using text alongside a fine art perspective in an attempt to capture my hidden disability challenges and observations when I process everyday life, on a daily basis. It's often from an activism stance to champion not only my own challenges but often other neurodiverse individuals.

My work is autobiographical, which often employs a degree of humour which I feel can  build communication channels that engages an audience and promotes a dialogue of important equality issues that need addressing. Sometimes, through humour, not only does the image convey a message, there is a conscious awareness of accessibility.

The mechanism of delivery of an image is vitally important to me, as environmental factors impact significantly on my functioning. My fascination with vexillology leads to images portrayed on material, banners, or flags, all of which have a kinetic quality that can represent not only visual changes of the image physically, as seen by an audience, but have historical activism properties. Installations are where I see my work developing.
